Snartemo II Tablet Woven Band

The small village of Snartemo is the humble home of one of the richest archaeological finds from the Migration Period (375 - 550 AD) in Southern Norway. Unlike the bold contrasting colour used in popular versions of this design, the original Snartemo II band boasted a subtle zigzag texture with brown-red dyed wool yarn for both warp and weft.

This bold band is measures to 216 cm in length and 1.5 cm wide. Hand woven with 100% plant dyed* wool, this fine ribbon would make an excellent cloth belt or trim for your Anglo Saxon, Iron Age or Viking Age garments. This design features colours produced with madder root (brick red) and dyers chamomile (yellow).
