Kaupang Tablet Woven Band (Green)

This design is based on a Viking Age textile fragment dated to 840 - 940 CE (9th - 10th Century). The original find was found sewn to the edge of a heavy woollen garment in Kaupang, Vestfold in modern day Norway.

This band is 240 cm (7' 8") in length and 1.6 cm (3/5 inch) wide. Handwoven with 100% plant dyed wool*, this striking design would be perfect as a cloth belt or decorative trim for your Viking Age garments. This design features colours produced with indigo over dyed with weld (bottle green) and dyer's chamomile (yellow).

*Plant dyed wool is beautiful but will require special care to maintain vibrancy and colour fastness. All tablet woven wares are wet finished by Knarr Traders prior to sale to prevent shrinkage, set twist and avoid colour bleeding. Refrain from regular washing. If washing is required, soak in cold water. Do not agitate, scrub or wring wet wool. Dry flat in shaded area. Avoid direct sunlight for prolonged periods.
